In 1957, a young John E. Zignego began his career in insurance with W.A. Lang Agency. Eight years later, he joined Sonnen Insurance Agency in St. Paul, MN, where he earned his first opportunity to become an agent. In 1975, John purchased the agency from George Sonnen, renaming it Sonnen-Zignego Agency Inc. Three years later, with a growing East Metro clientele, he relocated the agency to Lake Elmo.
Over the years, Zignego Agency expanded through strategic acquisitions, including Lake Elmo Bank Agency and Artie Schaefer Insurance out of Stillwater. Most recently, on January 1st, 2024, Zignego Agency Insurance proudly acquired Voosen Company of St. Paul, MN — another family-owned agency committed to building strong, lasting customer relationships. These expansions allow us to serve our clients even better while maintaining the personalized service our community values.
